At its center are two sisters?Eri, a fashion model slumbering her way
into oblivion, and Mari, a young student soon led from solitary reading
at an anonymous Denny?s toward people whose lives are radically alien
to her own: a jazz trombonist who claims they?ve met before, a burly
female ?love hotel? manager and her maid staff, and a Chinese
prostitute savagely brutalized by a businessman. These ?night people?
are haunted by secrets and needs that draw them together more
powerfully than the differing circumstances that might keep them apart,
and it soon becomes clear that Eri?s slumber?mysteriously tied to the
businessman plagued by the mark of his crime?will either restore or
annihilate her.

Author: Haruki Murakami Translator: Noppadon Vejsawat Edition: 1 st (August 2008) Page: 336 pages Price: 220 BahtThe anonymous narrator is a mild-mannered
thirtysomething with a more than understanding attitude--things happen
because they are supposed to and there's no sense standing in the way
of progress or nature. It takes the disappearance of a friend and some
gentle intimidation from a right wing conglomerate to break the pattern
of apathy and send him off on his adventure.
Murakami's
detail of the most mundane situations makes his lead character
endearing. Those who've read Murakami before will recognise that
certain empathy for the strange thoughts and rituals that are now
hallmarks of his wry humour. Although an unlikely hero, the quest for a
missing friend and the support of a lover with mysterious ears takes
him off in search of the elusive sheep in a bizarre adventure--danger
and absurdity hindering every movement.

Author: 10 Decibel Edition: 1st (March 2007) Pages: Price: 120 Baht
A collection of short stories from 10 Decibel, the same author of (Mathematics: Short Stories). This is an often funny yet heartbreaking portrayal of the friendship between an autistic child, Muk Pra Dap, and a miserable writer. A person who suffers from a brain development disorder might be in a better position than what we thought. In our sane world, she, who usually receives our sympathy, might unbelievably be an intelligent and a strong person, unlike the ordinary one, who fumbles around how to stand up again after being beaten by devastating storms.
